The Antique Pieces We’re Always Searching For

When we’re sourcing antiques in England, there are certain pieces we’re always hoping to find.

Not every antique is easy to come across. Some pieces were produced in smaller numbers, while others were simply used so heavily over time that very few have survived in good condition.

When we do find these pieces, they almost always make it into one of our containers.

Here are a few of the antiques we’re constantly searching for.

Large Pine Cupboards 

Large antique pine cupboards are some of the most sought-after pieces we come across.

Their scale makes them incredibly useful in modern homes, offering both storage and a strong visual presence in a room. These cupboards were often used in kitchens, pantries, or linen rooms in English homes, which means many were heavily used over the years.

Finding examples that still have beautiful patina and strong structure is becoming increasingly rare.

Oversized Farmhouse Dining Tables

There’s something incredibly special about a large antique dining table.

These tables were built to gather around—family meals, celebrations, and everyday moments all took place around them. Many of the best examples are made from thick pine boards and show decades of use through the surface of the wood.

Because of their size and durability, these tables often become the centerpiece of a home.

Primitive Benches

Primitive benches are one of the most versatile antique pieces you can find.

Their simple construction and beautiful wear make them easy to incorporate into almost any room. They can work behind a sofa, at the end of a bed, along a dining table, or in an entryway.

We’re always hoping to find benches with strong character and well-aged wood.

Linen Cupboards

Linen cupboards are another piece that we’re constantly searching for.

Originally used to store sheets, blankets, and household linens, these cupboards offer incredible storage in a relatively compact footprint. Their tall proportions make them especially useful in homes where built-in storage may be limited.

Because many were used daily for generations, finding well-preserved examples can be surprisingly difficult.

Cricket Tables

Cricket tables are one of the most charming antiques we come across.

Traditionally made with three legs so they could sit evenly on uneven stone floors, these small tables are both practical and sculptural. They work beautifully as side tables, bedside tables, or accent pieces throughout the home.

Every cricket table we find feels a little different, which makes them especially fun to source.

One of the most exciting parts of sourcing antiques is never knowing exactly what you’ll find.

Some days we come across pieces we’ve been searching for for months. Other times, something completely unexpected appears. But whenever we find one of these rare and beautiful antiques, we know it’s worth the journey across the ocean.
