The substantial solid wood top shows generations of use, with a beautifully worn and uneven surface, deep knife marks, cracks, old repairs, and natural imperfections that make this piece truly one of a kind. Iron corner brackets add another layer of utilitarian character.
The thick butcher block top simply rests on the base and is not permanently attached, allowing the two pieces to be separated for transport. The simple stretcher base has an understated, rustic quality that lets the heavily patinated top remain the focal point.
While originally made as a working butcher block, we think this would be especially beautiful repurposed as an entryway console with an oversized mirror or piece of artwork above it. It could also work wonderfully as a kitchen piece, display table, or statement piece in a shop or restaurant.
