A beautifully simple English pine linen press featuring a classic two-piece “knockdown” construction—designed to separate for easier transport while maintaining a substantial, grounded presence when assembled.
Circa 1840-1860
The upper cabinet rests securely on the base and attaches with four screws, allowing it to be fully removable if needed. Inside, the cupboard offers generous storage with all shelves fully removable, making it ideal for linens, clothing, or household storage. The double doors feature a working lock and key, adding both function and traditional character.
The base is fitted with a bank of drawers, showcasing traditional hand-cut dovetail. The proportions of this piece make it both highly functional and visually impactful.
The pine has developed a warm, natural patina over time, with visible knots, tonal variation, and wear consistent with age and use. These subtle imperfections contribute to its depth and authenticity, giving the piece a timeless, lived-in feel.
